ONITSHA—Chairman of the Trade Union Congress, TUC, in Anambra State, Mr Peter Okafor, has denied allegation that he collected N5 million bribe from government to call off the industrial action of his union recently embarked upon with the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, over the new national minimum wage.
He equally denied that he was suspended by the national leadership of TUC over the alleged bribe and backing out from the organized labour strike.
Speaking to reporters, Okafor described the allegations as false, unfounded and baseless, saying that it was the handiwork of mischief makers who were out to run him down.
“The issue of N5 million bribery is not true. I did not collect any money from anybody or government. I called off the strike when I saw that the leadership of the NLC led by Mr Patrick Okafor had a secret agenda other than what we agreed to fight for in the struggle for the new minimum wage.”
