A NEWSPAPER vendor has been arrested for allegedly attempting to kidnap a set of twins in Ikorodu area of Lagos. The vendor, identified as Victor Joshua until his arrest, supplied newspapers to customers in the area.
However two weeks ago, he was reportedly seen leaving one of the buildings on Okeriya area of the town with a set of twins, children of Mrs and Mrs Badmus. The twins, both girls are two and half years old.
When a curious neighbour asked where he was carrying the children to, the vendor replied that their father asked him to bring them. Not satisfied with his explanation, the neighbour reportedly reached Mr. Badmus on phone only for him to reply, in shock, that he never sent anyone to pick his children.
Following this development, the vendor was immediately accosted and later taken to the Police station. During interrogation, he reportedly confessed to have been at the verge of kidnapping them.
The 35-year-old Cross River state -born suspect was later taken to an Ebute Metta magistrate court where he was charged with attempted kidnapping.
