Obi wins Tinubu, Atiku in Nasarawa

***as SDP, PDP sacks Adamu, AlMakura others

The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party LP, Peter Obi has defeated the candidates of the ruling All Progressive Congress APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinibu and Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party in Nasarawa State

Obi who captured four local governments as well as votes obtained votes from other LGAs totalling 191, 361 to clinch the state. was ahead of other political parties such as the ruling APC with 172, 922votes, PDP with a total score of 147, 093, NNPP-. 12, 715, APGA. 989 among other parties.

Aside labour party dislodging the rulling APC to win Nasarawa State, the social Democratic party SDP also won two senatorial seat in the state.

The APC controlled state, with the results collected, the major opposition People’s Democratic party has also made an impressive impact by clinching a senatoral seat in the state as well as the house of Representatives.

Professor Nasir Baba said while announcing the results collected, said SDP scored the highest votes to defeat APC in the Nasarawa West senatorial zone.

It would be recalled that Nasarawa west is the senatoral zone of the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress APC, Abdullahi Adamu.

This is even as the opposition PDP sacked the immediate governor of the state and the Senator representing Nasarawa South, Senator, Umaru Tanko AlMakura who lost to senator Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo in the just conducted elections in the state.

Ahmed Wadada of the social Democratic party, won the Nasarawa west Senatorial election in the just-concluded 2023 general elections in Nasarawa State.

Wadada scored 96,488 votes to defeat the APC candidate, Engineer Ahmed Tukur, to emerge winner of the Nasarawa west senatorial district election in the results collected returning officer, Professor by the Independent National Electoral

Wada’s result was declared by the returning officer Professor Ishaya Tanko on Monday as the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) scored 46,820 and 23,228 votes respectfully.

In the same vein, Senator Godiya Akwashiki of the Social Democratic party, SDP was declared winner of Saturday’s elections for Nasarawa Northern Senatorial District.

INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Ilemona Adofu, of Federal University, Lafia, declared Akwashiki as the winner with 44,471 votes at the early honour of monday

Akwashiki who joined SDP after he defected from APC , defeated the former Secretary of the National Judicial Service Commission, Alhaji Danladi Halilu of the APC, with 32,058 votes.

SDP also won Karu/Keffi/Kokona Federal Constituency seat of the State in the election as Jonathan Gaza won his reelection seat in the House of Representatives.R

The Returning Officer, Prof George Genyi declared Gaza, who polled 60,265 votes as winner at the Keffi Zonal collation centre in Keffi local government area of the state Monday.

According to Prof. Genyi, PDP’s candidate. Mr Bulus Ishaku, scored 33,180 votes while the LP candidate, Mr Iliya Gambo, pulled 29,665 votes, as the APC candidate, Mr Auta Koro, scored 28, 417 votes.

Recalled that the trio of Wadada, Akwashiki and Gaza had defected from the ruling APC to SDP in protest over the outcome of the primary elections in the party in 2022
