Why is Siasia begging to stay? – Peterside

By Tony Ubani
ERSTWHILE national goalkeeper, Idah Peterside called our hotline yesterday and left us with m any questions begging for answers.

Idah was reacting to the disastrous outing of the super Eagles that has left a nation mourning. Just at the weekend, Enyimba of

Aba and Sunshine of Akure joined in the free-fall that has become the story of Nigerian football losing their Champions League and Confederation Cup matches respectively after the Super Eagles ouster in the Nations Cup.

Idah, still sulking that the Eagles will not play in the Gabon and Equatorial Guinea Nations Cup next year, said that he was at a loss why coach Samson Siasia is begging to continue in his saddle.

“Why is Siasia begging to stay?”. Without waiting for answers he went on: “It’s ridiculous that he is begging to stay after the monumental disaster. If they retain him, he can never be the same again. He will lose his authority in the team.

He can never instil discipline again. If he tries it, the NFF will rise against him to forestall what happened before. He did well but the game is up for him. He is my brother but we have to move forward.

“Many people don’t know the magnitude of what has happened to Nigeria. We have lost almost everything including the recent defeats of Enyimba and Sunshine. You may not know the import of what happened.

It is those of us outside who are ridiculed by these poor results”, Idah who was the Media officer of the Eagles up till the 2010 World Cup in South Africa said.
