Following the chain of intermediaries in the business of insurance, Niger Insurance has identified strongly with the roles of insurance brokers to further grow the sector.

Managing director of the company, Dr. Justus  Uranta at a public presentation of a book titled,  “Insurance Broking in Nigeria” written by Feyisayo Soyewo affirmed that insurance brokers have always been supportive of underwriters in ensuring that the entire industry contribute its expected quota to the economy of the nation.

Uranta said,  “In the time past, Niger Insurance plc has benefited so much from insurance brokers in Nigeria, so, we see it as a necessity to support them and in supporting them, we are giving credence to their practice so that the insuring public will embrace them the more and give them the required respect for the general good of the industry.”

He reiterated the fact that insurance broking is a very important arm of insurance industry not only in Nigeria but in every part of the world, noting that as intermediaries, the underwriters even consider the brokers as their first line of customers.

While commending Soyewo, the author of the book, for adding to the intellectual capacity of the industry, Uranta stated that going forward, the insurance broking practice is expected to get better with high level professionalism, ethical practice and improved service delivery to insurance consumers, as the market embrace more intellectualism and capacity building.

He emphasised that the new book would complement the contributions of Joe Irukwu, Funmi Adeyemi and many others who have written books on the different areas of the insurance business, adding that this would help the coming generation build love and knowledge on the industry.

According to him, “First of all, I will like to appreciate the effort of prince Soyewo, as you have been told; this book is the first of its kind in the insurance industry chronicling what has transpired in the last 50 years”.
