OWERRI-The Imo State Government is to construct a 15 kilometre road in each of the 27 local government areas in its first phase of massive construction of roads in the rural areas.
This was disclosed by the state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha while addressing traditional rulers’ council chairmen and community leaders of the state’s Fourth-tier of government at the Rochas Foundation Centre, Owerri.
The governor said that the project, a direct labour initiative, would involve the collaboration of the council and the communities.
He advised the local councils to rehabilitate the communities’ major markets to boost the revenue accruable to them, adding that the Avutu Modern Poultry Farm would soon be restored to full capacity.
Governor Okorocha said the law backing activities of the community speakers would soon be passed by the state House of Assembly.
