A first timer at the Bogobiri compound is sure to immediately feel African. Subsequently, the individual is thrown into deep meditation on the dept of dexterity of the artists who created the decors which added radiance to the entire environ. That is the New Nimbus Art Gallery now occupying a space at the Bogobiri House Ikoyi Lagos.

Re-emerging after six years of what the administration termed years of incubation, the New Nimbus Art Gallery is resurfacing with a new vision and a new direction for artistic self expression which the director, Chike Nwagbogumaintains has taken root within the veins of an ancient belief system which proudly states that art is at the centre of innovation and life.

The New Nimbus was formally opened to the public by the Obi of Onitsha, Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, on 4th of September, 2011 with an exhibition of paintings, sculpture and pop art, titled Metanoia.

Chike explained that it was imperative to kick off with an exhibition like Metanoia, a Greek word which stands for transformation.

The change Chike meant surprisingly does not have anything to do with the Nimbus metamorphosis, but a desperate desire to see a new Nigeria emerge. According to him, ‘’a point comes in life when a man is confronted with life threatening issues that call for retracing one’s steps which obviously, result into meaningful transformation and I know this is what this country needs, to move on.”
