Akure—Mmother of a former member of the Ondo State House of Assembly and now Chairman of State Sports Council, Mr. Bamido Omogbehin, has been kidnapped.

Mrs. Cecilia 75, was abducted on Monday by seven gunmen in Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state.

Vanguard gathered that the kidnappers who were said to be armed with guns and cutlasses, trailed her from her shop in Okitipupa before pouncing on her.

After they reportedly picked her, the kidnappers raided her neighbours and collected their mobile phones before taking Madam Omogbehin to an unknown destination in her vehicle.

According to a source, the kidnappers later abandoned Mrs. Cecilia’s vehicle at Igbokoda before escaping with her in a speed boat.

Speaking on the incident, Omogbehin, said the family was yet to be contacted and expressed concerns over her safety.

He said “It is unfortunate that my mother has been kidnapped. The woman was returning from her shop when the kidnappers followed her to the compound where she was kidnapped. Up till now, the kidnappers have not contacted the family. I do not know what my mother has done to warrant such kind of treatment?”

Public Relations Officer of Ondo State Police Command, Adeniran Aremu, said the police were making efforts to arrest the perpetrators of the act.
