In recent times, the crypto community experienced a notable downturn which has caused the entire blockchain ecosystem a regression both in crypto operation and stakeholders’ spirits. This led one of Nigeria’s most prominent techpreneurs, Franklin Peters (CEO of Boundless Pay) to implement an idea of bringing together seasoned Blockchain professionals all over the world under the umbrella of the event “Lagos Blockchain Vibes”, one of the biggest blockchain events in Africa.
He said at the event that the reason Blockchain Vibes was conceived is to improve the ‘vibe’ of Africans who might have lost the zeal to continue their crypto journey because of the volatile nature of the crypto market. He also explained that the best time to do this is at the current time when the industry is facing a downturn.
The event brought together top stakeholders in the blockchain and cryptocurrency community to share useful insights, educate crypto and tech enthusiasts on how to navigate blockchain technology, exploring topics across DeFi, NFTs, and Web 3.0. Introducing them to the future of decentralization and the evolution of money.
The event, themed: Demystifying Decentralized Finance, held on the 9th of July, 2022 at Glover Memorial Hall in Marina, Lagos recorded a massive turnout consisting of both young crypto enthusiasts and more experienced professionals.
A number of the speakers spoke of the passion and enthusiasm they saw in these young attendees which gave them a strong sense of hope and heightened their expectations on the future of crypto in Africa. Also speaking at the event was Davinci Jeremie, an expert who believes Nigeria is the future of bitcoin growth, he said “the federal government cannot stop bitcoin just as nobody can stop technology from operating” when speaking on government policies on cryptocurrency.
The Lagos Blockchain Vibes met with a large number of sponsorship support and partnerships from organizations that share the same vision as the event’s convener. BlueAfric Media, one of the most prominent media and communications agencies in Nigeria was a part of the media support for the event, partnering with the organizers to bring the event to life and make it a success. Ihenacho Ikechukwu Michael and Okoli Christian, two of BlueAfric Media’s co-founders in attendance stated in a press briefing that Blueafric Media’s involvement in the event was to use its platforms to communicate and spread the message of emerging technologies to its wide array of Nigerian audiences.
When speaking on the future of the Blockchain Vibes event, Franklin Peters confirmed that the event will surely continue in the future and would be even bigger than it currently is, expanding beyond the shores of Nigeria to other major cities in Africa.
