ENUGU—FORMER President of the Senate, Chief Ken Nnamani, has described the South-East Economic Summit holding Thursday and Friday in Enugu as a veritable platform for leaders of the geo-political zone to interact and chart a new dynamic, political and economic future for the people.

Senator Nnamani spoke when he received Chairman of the Central Planning Committee of the Summit, Chief Chris Obiefuna and President of the South-East Chambers of Commerce Forum, Sir Okechukwu Nwadinobi,  in Abuja.

He expressed confidence with the timing and opportunity the summit would provide for the zone to x-ray its past political and economic agenda in a holistic way devoid of political party coloration ito chart a new political and economic agenda.

Such agenda, he noted would propel and sustain the zone’s thrust that would lead it into an egalitarian economy of the 21st century.

Nnamani stressed that the summit should be in line with the zone’s determination to keep pace with President Jonathan’s transformation agenda.

He assured that it would also produce a political and economic blue print that would aid the transformation of the zone into an economic force that would contribute its quota towards the overall development of the zone and the nation as a whole.

The former Senate President appealed to all stakeholders in the South-East zone to attend the summit and offer their suggestions and proposals on how to move the zone from its present position to that of a leading 21st century economy.

Senator Nnamani is the Chairman of the Summit’s Political Agenda session during which two strategic papers that will chart a new course for the South East Political future will be presented and discussed by a panel of top politicians and academics.
