The housing sector in Bayelsa State has received a fresh boost last week when an Oman based solution firm, Good Earth Power Ltd in partnership with Trans Atlantic Mortgage Ltd and First Bank of Nigeria, unveiled plans to build an 800- housing unit estate in Yenagoa. The project is expected to gulp N40 billion on completion.

Named TA Garden Estate, the massive housing project is expected to add to the aesthetic beauty of the state capital.

The memorandum of understanding, MoU, for the multibillion naira project was signed last week in Yenagoa between the representatives of Good Earth Nigeria Ltd, First Bank of Nigeria and Trans Atlantic Mortgage.

Speaking shortly after the brief ceremony, the Managing Director, Trans-Atlantic Mortgages, Mr. Preye Ogiriki said the project would create employment for over 5000 skilled and unskilled workers in the state.

Ogiriki said Good Health Power Nig Limited would deliver affordable hi-tech housing projects that would provide security, power and water facilities in the estate.

“It is going to be a brand new community with decent and modern state of the art technology including security that would further help tackle the housing needs of Bayelsans,” he said.

Country Representative, Good Earth Power Nig Limited, Mr. Tari Rufus said the housing project would compliment government effort aimed at solving the acute housing problem in the state as well as help to take several unemployed youths off the streets.

He lauded the Yenagoa based mortgage outfit, Trans-Atlantic Mortgages for its track record in the state housing sector.

Rufus said the TA Garden Project which would rank among the best in world, would tackle the problem of power, water and insecurity when completed.

“The 800 housing project is not going to be a mushroom or slum houses, but an estate with European standard in terms of designs and finishing,” he said, adding that, it would compete with other houses in the developed world in terms of standards and facilities.

“We consider this as a great opportunity to serve our state because we believe that the project would bring employment opportunities to Bayelsans,” he said.

The present administration he noted, needs a legacy project for the people as the state yearns for development. The ceremony was witnessed by Major Gen Paul Toun (retired) a shareholder with Trans Atlantic Mortgages and Mr. Nengi Ayarite a representative of First Bank Limited Yenagoa.
