Jonathan urged to set priorities

Mr. Eterhisan Oputu, a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State and former House of Assembly aspirant, has asked President Goodluck Jonathan to keep in view the six-year single tenure proposal and tackle other vital issues affecting the country.

Oputu said: “Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has good reasons for the six-year single tenure proposal considering the infighting in political parties and the amount of money we spend on elections every four years. But you need to have a scale of preference in whatever you are doing.

“We have a lot of problems that require very urgent attention. To have a constitutional amendment, you need to go through the National Assembly and the various states and you know what that entails.

So I think he should focus on things that will have more meaning to our lives as Nigerians.”
