ABUJA – Minister of Works, Arc Mike Onolememen has assured all road users of Okene-Auchi-Benin highway that the Federal Government will restore the areas washed off by erosion  recently.

Onolememen assured a delegation from Auchi led by the Otaru of Auchi kingdom; HRH Haliru Momoh who paid him courtesy call in Abuja weekend.

The gully erosion on that route, the Minister explained, resulted in a make-shift diversion of the road that takes traffic to and from Abuja and parts of South-South, South-East, South-West and North-Central zones of the country.

Accompanied by Minister of State for Works; Amb Bashir Yuguda, Permanent Secretary; Dr. Tukur Bello Ingawa and other senior Ministry officials to receive the delgation, Onolememen promised that construction work would commence shortly on the damaged portion of Auchi-Okene-Abuja road few week from now in order to ease the plight of motorists plying on that road.

He told the delegation that President Goodluck Jonathan was personally interested in solving the ecological problems affecting Auchi kingdom and its environs whilst he added that his ministry would collaborate with the Ministry of Environment and NEMA to tackle the problem urgently.
