‘45 per cent of Nigerian children malnourished’

A paediatrician  Ayodele Ojuawo  has called on the Federal Government to check the growing rate of malnutrition among children to reduce infant mortality in the country.

He also called on President Goodluck Jonathan to urgently sign into law the national health bill as passed by the legislature because it will promote and improve medicare to the citizenry especially the children.

Ojuawo,  a professor of pediatrics at the University of Ilorin, made the call  in ilorin, in  his inaugural lecture entitled: “The Child’s Gut and Its Guts” at the university.

  The paediatrician lamented  that about 45 per cent of children in the country suffers one form of malnutrition or the other said this does not augur well for the future of the country.
