Jos – There is disquiet in the Plateau State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chapter   over choice of commissioners to serve in Governor Jonah Jang’s cabinet for his second term, as many of those expected to make the list might have been dropped.

Vanguard gathered  yesterday that finishing touches were being put to the list of commissioners by the governor’s kitchen cabinet with silent protests from some quarters over those picked from some local government areas.

A top party source told Vanguard that many of those recommended by the respective local government chapters of the party for appointment are unlikely to make the list.

It was learnt that rather than stick to the list presented by the local government chapters, the governor opted for his preferred choices outside the list.

This development was said to be generating concern in some local government areas as those seen as having contributed to the party’s electoral success might have been sidelined for the governor’s preferred choices.

“I can tell you that many of those being touted as likely commissioners by virtue of their contribution to the success of the party may not make the list. This may not be in the best interest of the party but the governor has the prerogative to choose who to work with and we believe something can always be arranged for those who don’t get appointed into the cabinet”, a source said.

Among those believed to be on the list are a former House of Representatives aspirant for Jos/Bassa constituency, a top official of one of the state-owned media outfits and an official of the Ministry of Justice who is expected to represent one of the local government areas in the Central Senatorial Zone.
