Former Super Falcons coach Ismaila Mabo has expressed sadness over the defeat the team suffered in the hands of Germany in the on-going 2011 FIFA 2011 Women’s World Cup but advised  them to beat Canada in their last match on Tuesday to redeem  the country’s image. “We are out of the competition no matter our performance against Canada.

We  have never had any victory against Germany, even in the Olympics they beat us 2-1. During our preparation for the Olympics  they also beat us 3-1. The little I watched in the first half of the match against Germany, I think the girls did not do too well.  The midfield was an issue, there were too many loopholes there. They could not hold onto the ball enough.

On the other hand, Germany  proved to be more experienced and better than us. All the same they (Falcons) have to come back and give the younger ones the chance to prepare for the 2012 Olympics. It is rather unfortunate that we are out but we can still redeem our image If we can beat Canada in the last group match, otherwise they  will come back in shame and disgrace.

They should not be discouraged, they are still going to play Canada. It is a formality  match, because even if they beat Canada by 100 goals,  they are out of  the competition. So  let them play well against Canada and then come back and prepare towards the Olympics,” Mabo said
