Bauchi –  There was a tight security arrangement at the inauguration of the seventh Bauchi State House of Assembly on Tuesday in Bauchi.

The officials and visitors at the venue were checked by armed mobile policemen, to prevent people from going into the complex with dangerous weapons.

The presence of policemen and other security operatives was noticed from the Bauchi-Gombe road and the main entrance to the complex.

Personnel carriers and patrol vehicles were stationed at the main entrance and other strategic locations within and outside the complex on security surveillance.

Men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other para-military personnel were also stationed around the venue to beef up security.

Visitors, including journalists, were prevented from going into the complex with bags and other luggage.

Security at various road blocks leading to Bauchi, mounted by both the military and police, was tightened to forestall break-down of law and order.

Labaran Chenede, spokesman of the Assembly, told NAN that 30 out of the 31 members, comprising 26 PDP and four CPC, would be sworn-in.

Chenede said that Yusuf Nuhu (CPC),  representing  Lame constituency, would not be sworn-in because of a case pending against him.(NAN)
