FG streamlines cost on satellite imageries

Federal Government has streamlined the procurement of satellite imageries to save huge cost that accrues from single user licenses.

Surveyor-General of the federation, Mr. Austin Njepuome, said this in Abuja at a stakeholders’ forum, adding that such exercise would help to avoid duplication of projects.

He said that the “Office is coordinating the acquisition of the imageries to ensure adherence to required standards accuracies, avoidance of duplication of projects by different arms of Federal Government, thereby preventing wastage of scarce resources and to protect the nations security”, in line with the existing law which is the Survey Coordination Act of 1962,

Njepuome said that the acquisition of a multi-user license satellite imagery map of Nigeria of various resolutions is in the pipeline whereby various arms of the Federal Government can key into, to meet their various needs and requirements.

He noted that the stakeholders in the geo-information industry met to identify their range of interests with a view to accommodating all interest group in the acquisition to achieve economies and at a cheaper cost to the Federal Government.
