Ethiopia names 22 players for Super Eagles match

Addis Ababa – The Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) on Tuesday named 22 players for the African Cup Nations qualifier Group B match against the Super Eagles.

Mr Ashenafi Ejigu, the Secretary General of the EFF said that the players were selected from seven major clubs in the country.

These include  Saint George Football Club, Defence Force FC , Dedebit FC Ethiopian Coffee FC, Hawassa City FC and Sebeta City FC.

Three goalkeepers, namely  Zerihun Tadesse, Yidnekatchew Kidane and Jemal Tessew  made the list.

Also in the team are eight defenders –  Alula Girma, Abebaw Butako, Sisay Demissie, Berhanu Bogale, Mengistu Assefa, Aynalem Hailu, Zenebe Kebede and Biadgelegn Elias.

Yared Zenabu, Menyahel Teshome, Shimeles Bekele, Asrat Megersa, Tesfaye Alebachew and Mesfin Ahmed are to man the midfield while  Adane Girma, Oumed Oukri, Chala Driba, Biniam Assefa and Gegre-Micheal Yacob form the striking squad.

The Super Eagles are to meet their Ethiopian counterparts in a return leg of the qualifier on June 5 in Addis Ababa.

The first leg ended 4-0 against the Ethiopians.  (NAN)
