…sue for peace in party

Warri:  Leaders of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Delta south senatorial district ,  has passed a vote of confidence on President Muhammadu Buhari, urging him to continue to tackle challenges of insecurity in the country.

A communique released after a  meeting weekend   of leaders of the party in the senatorial district  in Koko, headquarters of Warri south local government area also reaffirmed support for the National Caretaker committee of the party led  by His Excellency Mai Mala Buni, adding that the committee should do its best to ensure peace at all levels of the party in the country.

They also expressed  confidence in the Chief John Odigie Oyegun led Peace and Reconciliation Committee to bring peace in the party, adding that members of the party should sink their differences for the party to record victories in the general polls by 2023.

Convener of the meeting, Dr Alex Ideh  in his opening remark said the senatorial district should aim at having the state Chairman of the party since the governorship will likely  be zoned to another senatorial district.

Continuing, he enjoined members of the party in the senatorial district to close ranks, promote unity in the party.

The  Delta state Organising Secretary of the party, Mr Sunny Mene, also appealed  for peace in the party, stressing that the party should go for consensus in election of officers in the coming local government and state congresses  billed to kick off this month.

Other leaders of the party , Chief Ayiri Emami, Professor  Bello Orubebe  and others who spoke said the party should unite ahead of the 2023 general polls so it can clinch good offices.

The communique signed by Chief Anthony Afisi, Kennedy Daubry, Chief Mike Odeli, Chief Mrs Mary Obruche  and Dr Alex Ideh  also passed vote of confidence on law makers, Ministers and other political appointees of the party  from the region working with President Buhari to take the nation to greater heights.

It further enjoined President Buhari to appoint persons from oil producing communities in Itsekiri, Ijaw and Isoko into the coming board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, adding that the  party should zone the presidency to the South south region for the 2023 presidential election.

“That we demand that the chairmanship of the party in the State should be retained in Delta South Senatorial District in the forthcoming state congress in the interest of equity, fairness and Justice.”, the communique reads in part.

“We appreciate the passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) by the APC led National Assembly and call for an immediate (increase) in the percentage to accrue to the host communities “, it continued.
