Edo police orders cultists arrest in 24 hrs

WORRIED by the on-going cult war in Edo State which has led to the death of six persons, the state police commissioner, Mr David Omojola, Saturday, ordered  DPOs in the state to get all the cultists in their domain arrested within the next 24 hours, just as he vowed to hunt down cultists in the state.

The CP, who looked visibly worried while addressing newsmen in Benin City, however, confirmed only four deaths have been recorded.

He disclosed that the command had arrested seven suspected cultists and that more would be arrested in the next 24 hours. He condemned the killings and declared that the perpetrators must not go unpunished.

“We are working hard to ensure that peace and security is guaranteed in Edo State. I want to inform the general public that the command has uncovered plans by some elements to cause disaffection and insecurity in the state on the guise of cultism.

The list of such individuals have already been compiled. The DPOs have been give marching order to effect the arrest of these individuals and their collaborators,” Omojola added.
