Lagos – At least several suspects, accused of cloning Certificates of Occupancy, C of Os, are currently being prosecuted in various courts of law by the Lagos State government.

The state government has also budgeted  N3.5 billion for revocation and compensation to property owners, whose assets gave way for the construction and expansion of various projects across the state.

Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, Permanent Secretary, Lands Bureau, Governor’s Office, disclosed this, yesterday, at the ministerial briefing on  the bureau’s stewardship for the last one year in commemoration of the fourth anniversary of Governor Babatunde Fashola in office.

He also disclosed that the Bureau generated N57.92 billion between 2007 and 2010 for the state government’s  from land matters.

Okunola said that the Bureau has also established a task force to follow up tips from the public on those who are into cloning of C of Os.

Both the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC and the Nigeria Police Command are currently investigating such cases, he said.
