Abuja – Mr Patrick Udomfang, PDP National Director of Legal, Intelligence and Security, says the party has substantial evidence to defeat CPC presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, at the Presidential Election Tribunal.

Udomfang declared,  in Abuja on Friday, that the party was “battle ready’’ to counter CPC’s claims that the April presidential poll was manipulated in favour of Goodluck Jonathan.

“We are equal to the task and we have already constituted our team of lawyers; we are keeping our gun powder ready for the battle. CPC, and vis-à-vis Buhari, they are already known customers to the court.

“So we are not afraid. We will defeat him again. And it’s likely this is going to be his last appearance in election petition tribunal because after this, he is going to retire,” he said.

Udomfang described CPC’s decision to seek legal redress in the court as a welcome development.

He, however, observed that the violent protests which trailed the presidential poll in some parts of the country would have been averted if the decision came much earlier.

“It is democratic and constitutional that any aggrieved person should go to court to seek redress rather than taking the laws into his hand.

“We are happy by today that CPC has decided to go to court. It would have been morally very okay if they had done that earlier before now,” he added.

The PDP legal draftsman urged the CPC to toe the path of engendering national unity by cooperating with the ruling party to transform Nigeria. (NAN)
