BENIN-THE Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has restored the accreditation of the Oba Okunade Sijuade College of Health Sciences of the Igbinedion University, Okada, a year after the council suspended the institution from running the programme.
A letter to the Vice-Chancellor of the institution and signed by the Registrar to the Council, Dr. A.A. Ibrahim, stated, “following the re-accreditation visitation to your College of Health Sciences on Tuesday 12th April 2011 by the team from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria in which the facilities and personnel in the College and the teaching hospital were inspected and appraised, I hereby on behalf of the Council convey the lifting of the withdrawal sanction of your MBBS programme with immediate effect.”
“This is against the backdrop of substantial compliance with established criteria, which MDCN noted to include the efforts of the University Administration at addressing issues of qualitative medical education at Igbinedion University”.
