BENIN-PROMINENT Niger Delta activist, Chief (Mrs) Rita Lori-Ogbebor, yesterday, petitioned the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Police, zone 5 Benin, demanding investigation into the invasion of her Warri residence by armed political thugs and  subsequent shooting and maiming of persons in the compound on April 25, 2011.

The activist, who stormed the AIG office with all the victims of the attack, which she described as a massacre, urged the police to interrogate one Ayiri Emani, a Warri-based businessman who, she said, visited her before the incident occurred.

She narrated that “a day before the governorship election, at about 11am, I was in my house, Ayiri came to visit me, but I did not read any meaning to his visit because I am a High Chief in Warri Kingdom and there is no time you will come to my house without finding less than fifty people at a time. So he came and we discussed some issues and everything was settled amicably and he left and I went inside my bedroom.

“Not quite long that I entered my bedroom, I heard shouts of pain and I ran out. When I ran out, I discovered that Ayiri brought about ten men with cutlasses and they were cutting people and shooting. We phoned the police to come and save people from being killed in my compound. The police visited the scene and took pictures and also took statements from those who were wounded.
