Slain NYSC member laid to rest in Imo

 BY CHIDI NKWOPARA

OWERRI-Tears flowed  freely as remains of the National Youths Service Corps, NYSC, member, Engr. Anslem Chukwunonyerem Nkwazema, who was murdered in cold blood in Bauchi State during the post- presidential election riot, was brought to the Multi-Purpose Hall of Government House, Owerri, yesterday.

Governor Ikedi Ohakim said the state government would immortalise the two NYSC members killed in Bauchi State during the post-presidential election riots.

Ohakim said:  “We will name a government institution after the name of our slain brother. We will also support his family because he died a national hero.”

The governor described as “very sad and most disheartening” the killing of the NYSC members, noting that instead of receiving his certificate of discharge, he was receiving the corpse of the slain youth.

Warning that enough was enough, the governor said the country belonged to every Nigerian and that the young boy’s death would not be in vain.

“Those who can talk must come out and talk now. Everybody must condemn those who inflict untold hardship and misery on fellow Nigerians because of lust for power,” he added.
