AHEAD of tomorrow’s governorship and States Houses of Assembly elections in the country, the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has cautioned Nigerians, especially the youths, to guard against avoidable political violence that tend to lead to loss of lives of innocent people.
NANS President, Comrade Bassey Etuk Williams, and the Secretary General, Comrade Jossy Ekpe, in a statement jointly signed by the duo, told newsmen that NANS leadership met with the Minister of Defence, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode, and deliberated on the killing of innocent citizens in some states in the North.
According to Comrade Ekpe, it was resolved at the meeting that a special committee, christened Nigerian Students/Security Relations Committee, be established.
The statement said the ugly incident which occurred in the North must not be allowed to occur again as NANS could no longer tolerate the trend of waste of lives of youths who represent the future of the nation.
NANS reaffirmed its confidence in the Minister of Defence and expressed readiness to support the Ministry of Defence in all its security measures to ensure a peaceful process during the governorship and the State Houses of Assembly elections across
