Comptroller Jamo vows to jail fraudulent importers

Customs Area Comptroller Port Harcourt area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, comptroller Jamo, Ahmed Mohammed  has vowed to send fraudulent importers to jail. Comptroller Jamo told newsmen  that any  importer that makes any false declaration will be prosecuted and jailed.

According to the customs area comptroller, every container shall be physically examined with the support of other agencies at the port. He therefore appealed to importers and smugglers to stay clear of Port Harcourt.

Meanwhile, the command has collected N8, 058,766,855.73 billion between January and March, 2011, adding that the biggest was when the command collected N3 billion.Statistics made available tonewsmen, the command generated N2, 11,239,476.98 in January while N2, 949,459,760.99 was collected in February 2011.

Commenting on the revenue collected, comptroller Jamo said the officers and men of the command are always at alert and battle ready to flush out any  importer,who make false declaration adding that collected revenue has improved due to the r zero tolerance for smugglers  and other unscrupulous  importers
