Former Flying Eagles coach Tunde Disu believes that the new pattern adopted by the Flying Eagles chief coach Samson Siasia would go a long way in helping him build a capable team for the forthcoming U-20 World Cup billed for Egypt later this year.
Disu, who expressed delight over the recent tactical strength of the team as well as the performances displayed so far, said with support from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Nigerians, “the team will go beyond silver medal,â€as he urged him to be more determined and dedicated in ensuring that the team get to the final stage.
According to him, the team need consistent team spirit, focus as well as adhering to the coach’s instruction as they would be tackling world beaters during the competition.
“First of all, I want to commend his good work so far. Although it is not over yet, but so far he has been able to handle the team and build them up to an extent and I am sure they would come out victorious at the end,â€he said.
“He should however realise that there are other countries competing for this tournament who are also very much desperate to win. Therefore, he should work harder and get capable players who he knows can deliver swiftly,†he said
He urged Siaisia to be more focused on the midfield and the defence angle and should be able to know players that are fit and able to deliver good results.
“He has to be more focused on the midfield and the defence side in order to get good results,†he advised.
The team which was handed to Siasia early in the year, beat Ghana by a lone goal before dismantling Kenya 11-0. They however lost 1-3 to Guatemala before drawing 1-1 with host and eventual winners of the Five-Nation tournament, Egypt.
