MANAGING Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Mr Chibuzor Ugwoha, has restated the
determination of the commission to protect and preserve the girl child in the region.
Ugwoha who spoke at a workshop entitled ‘Equal Access Education’ as part of activities to mark the 2011
International Woman’s Day, organised by the commission, said the commission would promote the course of women,
describing the girl child as an endangered species.
The Managing Director, who was represented by the Delta State coordinator of NDDC, Mr Omawumi Urhobo, said it was
the policy of the commission to promote the cause of women. He added that “the girl of today is the woman of
tomorrow.”
According to him, “the commission had assisted women to participate in income generation ventures to make them
partners in regional and national development.”
