ABUJA-THE Federal Government yesterday endorsed far reaching decisions that could revamp the manufacturing sector of the economy through the patronage and consumption of made-in-Nigeria goods.

The measures include a new tariff regime for foreign goods with representatives in Nigeria, directive to Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, the possible grant for consumer credit facility for local goods.

These  were some of the decisions reached at the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting held yesterday and presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan, with Vice President Namadi Sambo in attendance.

The Minister of Information and Communication, Mr Labaran Maku, who briefed newsmen, said the measures were aimed at rejuvenating the economy.

“Today (yesterday) in council, Mr. President, in continuation of his promise and determination to promote made-in-Nigeria goods directed all the MDA’s, henceforth, to ensure that in every procurement relating to vehicles, attention must first be given to locally assembled plants in all public procurement,” he said.
