Sokoto – Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko of Sokoto State, has warned civil servants in the state to shun partisan politics or risk sack.

He sounded the warning during the distribution of new and refurbishing car loans to civil servants held at the Government House, Sokoto.

According to Wamakko, the state government had been patient with civil servants that were involved in partisan politics and advised them to stop.

“Let me at this point, remind our workers of their sacred position of neutrality in partisan politics. Government has been patient enough by looking the other way on behaviours of a number of civil servants who indulged in partisan politics.”

“It should be understood that the silence is only exhibited out of respect and government expected those involved to be wise enough to stop,” Wamakko said warning: “I will seriously warn that this kind of behavior will no longer be tolerated.”

The governor reminded workers that the civil service was an institution whose efficiency was vital in ensuring effective implementation of government’s programmes.

He, however, expressed  dismay over civil servants’ lax attitude to work. “I would therefore like to seriously express government’s dissatisfaction with non-reciprocation of the workers to all efforts being made to improve their lot.”
