A leading member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Chief Alamu Otegbeye, has warned politicians to stop using members of the union for political thuggery during elections, saying it was against the rules of the union for members to indulge in such act.
He explained that the union’s constitution did not allow its members to engage in partisan politics, saying: “he who desires to engage in politics should first obtain the leave of absence from the union office to enable him participate fully in politics”.
The National President of the union had recently warned in Kaduna at the National Executive Council meeting of the union that the leadership of the union would not hesitate to expel any member that drags the name of the union into the mud.
