THE Port Facility Security Officers, PFSO, forum in the Lagos maritime zone is currently strategising to ensure port facilities and personnel particularly foreigners working in these facilities are secured during the election period.
Speaking at the monthly meeting of the forum, Mr Suberu Anataku Chairman of the group said that operators of such facilities must ensure that additional security arrangement are put in place to guard against any unwanted security breach.
Anataku who was represented by his deputy, Mr Zeb Ejiro stated that every PFSO should warned their expertrate workers to stay off the streets and avoid night outing during the period and day of election.
He advised PFSOs to increase their guards and ensure that the presence of uniformed Police men in their terminals and facilities adding that their presence alone could wade off trouble makers.
Meanwhile, terminal operators have started putting contingency plans in place ahead of the April general election so as to ensure a uninterrupted operation during the election period.
Some of them are offering their staff extra pay and allowances to work during the period with a view to avoiding demurrage.
