OSOGBO-President Goodluck Jonathan has assured the people of the country that the moribund rail system would commence operation before the end of the month.

Addressing a rally in Osogbo, yesterday, in continuation of his campaign, President Jonathan said that the rail line between Lagos and Jebba would be completed this month and opened for operation.

“I have just received a report from the Chairman of the Nigeria Railway Corporation, that by the end of this month, segment of railway between Lagos and Jebba would be completed and people will begin to board train from Osogbo,” he said.

The President accompanied by his Vice, Mr Namadi Sambo, the National Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dr Bello Mohammed, Speaker House of Representatives, Mr Dimeji Bankole, Kwara State Governor, Dr Bukola Saraki, Minister of Youths Development, Sen Olasunkanmi Akinlabi and members of the National Assembly called for unity amongst the people of the country.

According to him, it was only in an  atmosphere of unity that a lot can be achieved for the people of this country, adding that his administration will pursue vigorously all policies that would lead to sustainability of the unity of the country.

On youths programme, the President assured the youths that his administration will do the best for them, particularly in the areas of education and job opportunity.

His words, “we have a formidable youths in Nigeria and we are going to use them maximally for the benefit of this country. They are needed to stimulate our economy for the development of our great country.”
While pledging to transform the economy of the country within the next four years, President Jonathan assured the people of Osun State, that the on-going dam projects in Ilesa and Ile-Ife would be completed by his administration to boast agricultural production in the state.

He also assured the people of the state that the Federal Government will look into the commercial viability of the solid mineral deposit that are  in various parts of the state.

On the education, Jonathan stressed that a task force had been put in place to use all seminars and workshops organised to galvanise the sector.
