No fewer than 92 Nigerians deported by the British government  arrived Murtala Muhammed Airport, MMIA, Lagos, yesterday, aboard a chartered aircraft with number plate 509 at about 9:00am.

An immigration service source at the MMIA said the deportees includes 77 males and 15 females, adding that they were ferried home from Madrid and London.

The source, who pleaded anonymity, said two of them were brought home on drug related cases,  four police cases, while the rest were for immigration offences.

Some of the deportees contacted at Nigerian Aviation Handling Company, NAHCO, gate claimed that they were deported in line with a new law that was introduced in the United Kingdom stipulating that all Nigerians without proper documentation be sent back to Nigeria.

One of the female deportees, who insisted that her name should not be in print, noted that she could not say why she was brought back home.

In detention for one week

The lady who claimed to be frustrated over her plight, said she would continue to demand from the British authorities why she was sent packing.

She said: ”I am frustrated. I can’t say anything now. I have been in detention for over one week before I was deported. I have been in London since 2004.

“I have always been renewing my documents until now that I was deported. It is their new law that Nigerians should be repatriated back. I have everything, cars and I work in a good place,  among others. Even people that have children were also repatriated from London,” she added.
