NSE market capitalisation, index shed 0.56%

The declining trend on the Nigerian Stock Exchange has continued Tuesday as the market indicators for measuring the performance indices, the market capitalisation and the All share index dipped by 0.56 per cent each.

Specifically, the capitalisation declined by 46.54 billion to close at N8.269 trillion from N8.315 trillion at which it opened, while the index shed 145.62 bases points to close at 25,871.22 points from 26,016.84 points.

Losses on price indices was occasioned by Ikeja Hotel Plc with a loss N0.09 to close at N1.71 per share, Ashaka Cement Plc followed with a loss of N1.37 to close at N26.03 per share and Bags Manufacturing Company Plc dipped by N0.14 to close at N2.66 per share.

Other share price losers include: Beta Glass Plc N0.74, Spring Bank Plc N0.08, Finbank Plc N0.04, Red Star Express Plc N0.16, Bank PHB Plc N0.08, Cutix Plc N0.11, Custodian and Allied Insurance Plc N0.17, among others.
On the other hand, Champion Breweries Plc recorded the highest share price gain on the gainers table with a gain of N0.17 to close at N3.58 per share, Associated Bus Company Plc followed with a gain of N0.03 to close at N0.68 per share and First City Monument Bank Plc garnered by N0.31 to close at N0.32 per share.
Other share price gainers include: NEM Insurance Company Nigeria Plc Plc N0.02, Prestige Assurance Plc N0.07, Union Bank Nigeria Plc N0.11, Skye Bank Plc N0.25, UAC Nigeria Plc N0.67, Flour Mills Nigeria Plc N0.99, Fidson Healthcare Plc N0.01, among others.

Equity trading appreciated by 48.84 per cent as a turnover of 217.19 million shares valued at N1.89 billion was recorded in 6,399 deals, compared to the previous day’s turnover of 444.74 million share valued at N2.40 billion in 6,327 deals.

The Banking sub-sector dominated the other sub-sector on the sectorial analysis accounting for 71.92 per cent of the market turnover with 156.21 million shares valued at N1.22 billion in 3,625 deals.  First Bank of Nigeria Plc was the most active in the sub-sector trading 31.16 million shares valued at N467.59 million 781 deals, Finbank Plc followed with the exchange of 27.65 million shares valued at N21.58 million in 175 deals and Diamond Bank Plc recorded 15.68 million shares valued at N130.24 million in 95 deals.
