OIL rich Ugborodo community in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, has ex-communicated a Chief Priest, Mr. Benson  Omadeli for alleged sacrilege against the pristine culture and practice of the  community.

Similarly, the community has elected a new youth leadership with Mr. Julius Atete as Chairman to run their affairs for the next four year in the first instance.

Ugborodo community Public Relation Officer, PRO, Chief Pullen Esimimajemite, who spoke to Vanguard on the expulsion of the Chief Priest of Orori Deity, said the priest was asked to leave the community due to his unwholesome activities that not only threaten peoples’ lives and the peace of the community but fundamentally debased the revered custom, culture and tradition of the Ugborodo people.

According to him, “the community is currently engage in some traditional rites of which Mr. Omadeli as the Olara-Orori (Head of the Orori Deity) was expected to perform key functions, but surprisingly, he walked out of a council meeting only to foment life threatening troubles that set the whole community in total confusion”, saying that “three times the community traditional council of elders sent for him to come explain his action, three times he decline to show up”.

“Dube is not bigger than the community. What he did was sacrilegious and unacceptable. The community has no option than to ask him to pack out of Ugborodo, and understanding the gravity of his offence and the pronouncement, Dube packed out with his wife, close relations, some of his foot soldiers and left the town”.

Notwithstanding the heat of the live threatening actions of the expelled priest, the community organized and elected the Mr. Julius Atete led executive, Sunday to run the affairs of the youths in the next four years.

Chairman of the election monitoring committee/security and Vice-Chairman, Ugborodo Community Trust, Mr. Isaac Botosan charged the 11-man committee to ensure that they attract the necessary development and empowerment programmes to Ugborodo, even as he reminded them that they have elected to bear the burden of the entire youth problems of Ugborodo on their heads by their new positions.

Chairman of the Ugborodo Community Youth Development Council, Mr. Julius Atete and the secretary, Mr. Bawo Emami told the mammoth crowd that they are set to take the community to its greatest height and solicited their unflinching support.
