Three housemaids- one foreigner and two Nigerians, were, yesterday,  docked before an Abuja Magistrate court sitting in Wuse, for conspiring to steal jewelries, wears and computer accessories valued at N52 million, belonging to one Hajia Aisha Abdulrahaman of Wuse 2 Abuja, a boss to one of them.

The accused persons were arraigned by the police on two different charge, followed a separate petition  by the complainant, Hajia Abdulrahaman against them.

One of the accused, Tobi Bondjienou from Republic of Benin was accused of theft and attempt to commit an offence contrary to section 97, 289 and 95 of the penal code law.

The two Nigerians, Casimir Kounnou and Martin Ananon were arraigned for criminal conspiracy, theft and threat to life, contrary to section 97, 289 and 397 of the penal code law.

During their  separate trial in Abuja, the  accused persons pleaded not guilty to the offence leveled against them.

Police prosecutor, Emmanuel Hussein, told the court that the complainant through a petition said her house girl, Tobi Bondjienou and her neighbour’s housekeepers, Casimir Kounnou and Martin Ananon, all connived together when she traveled to Lagos and stole  her belongings.

“She left you Tobi Bondjienou and Bukky now at large in her house and traveled to Lagos, while in Lagos both of you jointly stole her wears, computer accessories and gold jewelries valued N52million and absconded to unknown destination and after much efforts she was able to locate and handed you over to the police”. He said.

Hussein at the second trial submitted that the complainant, having several times warned the 2 accused persons: Casimir Kounnou and Martin Ananon to stop instigating her house girls against her, she reported the accused to their boss and they “threatened openly to deal with her in such a way she will regret”.

The prosecutor maintained that the petitioner (Hajia Aisha Abdulrahaman) “strongly believed that you Casimir Kounnou and Martin Ananon to have conspired with her house girls (Tobi and Bukky) to have made away with those items”.

Magistrate Emmanuel Iyanna granted bail to Tobi Bondjienou in the sum of N200, 000 with one surety which must have fixed address and reside within the jurisdiction of the court.

Similarly, Magistrate Hadiza Shagari admitted Casimir Kounnou and Martin Ananon on bail in the sum of N500, 000 with 2 sureties; a responsible citizen with fixed address and a civil servant from grade level 8 up ward, residing within the jurisdiction of the court.

The two matters are adjourned to March 14 for hearing.
