Alaibe promises to revamp education in Bayelsa

Mr. Timi Alaibe, the governorship candidate of  Labour  Party in Bayelsa State has promised to revamp the  “collapsed educational sector”  in  the state.  He made the pledge in Opokuma, his country home,  when a  delegation of party faithful  from  Igbarain Kingdom of the state,  paid him a solidarity  visit.

While enjoining  them to vote for Labour Party during the  governorship election,  he said  “we are all  strongly supportive of President Goodluck Jonathan’s candidature.” He  stressed  that “while we vote for President Jonathan in the presidential election, we should vote Labour Party in all other positions in  the state.”

Alaibe while addressing the supporters, lamented that over the years, Bayesla State students “have been performing  dismally in public examinations such as WAEC and NECO,”  adding “we cannot continue like this, if we must  solve the  problem of militancy for ever.” He noted  that the Bayelsa students taken to other schools in Lagos by President  Jonathan  are doing exceedingly well, pointing out that “it means that there is something the Bayelsa State government is not getting or doing right.”

He promised to revamp  the educational sector by “building good and qualitative schools, building schools  for the kindergarten age group, and also re training the teachers so that they can impact meaningful education to the children”.

He asked rhetorically, “how many Bayelsa  State teachers have a laptop, let alone the  school children?”
