South East governors of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo states have pledged to ensure stability, peace and unity in the country.

Chairman of Governors’ Conference, Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State made the pledge Monday in Enugu, while addressing newsmen on the meeting the governors held with the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN.

According to Obi, CAN is trying to help the political leadership to improve on governance and bring about peace and stability in the country.

“All the South-East governors are committed to one nation, where people’s talents can match up with opportunities.

“We want to build a better Nigeria for all. We are doing everything possible to ensure stability, peace and security of the country,’’ Obi said.

The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that the governors had visited all six geo-political zones of the country to champion the course.

The governors also plan to meet with other interest groups, including traditional rulers and the Nigeria Inter Religious Council, NIREC.

Present at the meeting were Governors Theodore Orji of Abia, Martin Elechi of Ebonyi, Obi of Anambra, Ikedi Ohakim of Imo and the host, Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State.

CAN was represented by its National President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, Methodist Prelate, Bishop Ola Makinde, Catholic Bishop of Enugu, Most Rev. Callistus Onaga, Methodist Arch Bishop of Enugu and Rt. Rev Samuel Uche.
