ASABA—A NINE-man inter-ministerial committee set up to investigate the circumstances that led to the collapse of an overhead tank at College of Education, Agbor, which killed five pupils on November 2, last year, has submitted its report to the state government.
State Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof Hope Eghagha said “the committee has given us an interim report and in two weeks time, they will given their final report.
“After that is given, of course the normal process and procedure in government will follow and that will be the issuance of the White Paper and thereafter, the report will be made public,” he said.
Meanwhile, parents of the primary school pupils, who lost their lives in the tragic incident are demanding the sum of N90 billion from the authorities of College of Education Agbor as compensation for what they described as “brutal manslaughter caused by the College.”
Lost in the tragedy were 7-year old Miss Constance Okolie, 8-years old Miss Mary Magalene Uyamasi, 7-year old Miss Franca Nimbeidu, Favour Okoro and an 8-year old boy, Clinton Festus, all pupils of a model school attached to the College.
In a letter to the College, the parents are insisting that the water tank with a shallow foundation was carelessly located near the classroom, yet the school authority pumped water into the tank resulting to its collapse.
