Federal lawmaker representing Katsina-Ala/Ukum/Logo Federal constituency at the National assembly Mr. Mzenda Iho has described the statement credited to former President Olusegun Obasanjo on the Zaki-Biam military invasion as unfortunate, misleading and regrettable.

Iho wondered why the former President would want to distort the fact of history by alluding that former Governor George Akume should be held responsible for the drafting of the military into Zaki-Biam when the reverse was the case.

The law maker  regretted that former President Obasanjo had resorted to shifting blames on the infamous massacre of Tiv natives when in actual fact the then President who was the Commander in Chief ordered the unleashing of the soldiers into Zaki-Biam with the sole aim of shooting to kill.

He urged the people of his constituency to discountenance the misleading statement adding that the gory experience of the people would forever not be spared by history and the spirit of the dead.

According to him, “I take serious exception to the statement by former president because when the situation in Sankera was getting out of hand, the then governor Akume summoned a security council meeting which decided that a military detachment from Benue State be sent to Sankera to bring the situation under control”

“He did not order them to go there to kill, maim and destroy because he had no powers to do so”.

“It was ex President Obasanjo, as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces who ordered the military from Taraba State to shoot at sight after sending back the military detachment from Benue who had earlier been posted to the troubled area”.

Iho further pleaded with former Presidenmt Obasanjo and those he described as his cronies to allow the soul of the massacred rest in peace in order to the create unnecessary tension in state and its neigbours.
