Delta guber re-run: Ighofose vows to sue INEC

By Lucky Oji
As mixed reactions trail the just concluded Delta governorship re-run election, Chief Michael Ighofose of the All Nigeria People’s Party, ANPP, has threatened to sue the Delta Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr Gabriel Ada, and the  Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, over his alleged unlawful exclusion and substitution with another person as the governorship candidate of the party.

Aggrieved Ighofose, has approached the court, asking for the cancellation of the just concluded Delta governorship rerun election.

It was learnt that the Delta Resident Electoral Commissioner, had, few days to the re-run election, published 14 names of governorship candidates cleared for the election, but excluded the name of Chief Ighofose, and replaced same with Mrs Veronica Bamuza-Mutu.

Reacting to the exclusion,   national leadership of ANPP, through its national secretary, Mr Lawan Ali, wrote a confirmation letter to INEC, Abuja, reconfirming Chief Ighofose as the legally recognised governorship candidate of the party, and not Mrs Bamuza-Mutu, as  wrongly published by the Delta Resident Electoral Commissioner.
