Following the recent retirement of Comptroller Dede Kane as the Controller in charge of the Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone ‘A’ in Ikeja, Lagos, the Comptroller General of Customs, Alhaji Dikko Abdulahi Inde has appointed Mr Victor Dimka as the acting Controller in charge of the strategic command.
The former controller who retired after putting in the statutory 35 years in service has since handed over the rein of the command to Deputy Comptroller Victor Dimka who is widely reputed to have cut his teeth as a crack enforcement, anti-smuggling and valuation officer; traversing virtually all the commands in the Nigeria Customs Service.
At a brief handing over ceremony which held recently in Ikeja, the new FOU boss vowed zero tolerance to smuggling, even as he expressed gratitude to the Comptroller General, Customs, for the confidence which informed his appointment. Apparently conscious of the demands of his new office, the new FOU top- man assured that he would continue to mobilize the command’s personnel, equipment and resources to achieve the desired objectives.
Deputy Comptroller Dimka was until the appointment, the arrow-head of the tremendous seizures which the FOU, Ikeja has been recording in recent months and which culminated in the huge success which the command posted in 2010.
Speaking to journalists after the handing-over, Dimka assured that the strings of unprecedented seizures which the command has been known for can only be improved upon. “You all know that FOU, Ikeja is the flagship in Customs anti-smuggling operations, we are blessed with a crop of dedicated officers who have consistently demonstrated bravery in the anti-smuggling war, it can only get better”, he assured.
He reiterated his appreciation to the Comptroller General of Customs, even as he promised to do his best to ensure that FOU continue to make smuggling an unprofitable business for its perpetrators.
