Anambra State branch of Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, has that said the 12 years which the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had been in power were wasted years, noting that the party has not provided quality leadership.

The newly elected state chairman of the party, Prince Chuba Ikeagwu, while addressing delegates at the state congress in Awka weekend, said Nigerians had suffered so much within the period, adding that the only way to put smiles on the faces of Nigerians again was by rejecting the party in 2011 elections and voting in General Muhammadu Buhari.

According to him, General Buhari has proved during the short period he governed the country that there could be transparency in governance.

“Next year will make it 12 years since PDP took over the leadership of the country and it has been a period of agony for Nigerians.

“Most of the people who have been in charge have been deceiving the people and that is why there is need for a change.

“Buhari is the man that will bring about this change because within the short period he was the head of state, Nigeria witnessed discipline in all spheres of life. His tenure as the chairman of Petroleum Trust Fund, PTF, brought about massive development in the country, which is yet to be equalled and that is why the people are clamouring that he should be given the opportunity to be the president in 2011,” the chairman said.

Ikwagwu urged members of the party to de-emphasize the issue of money in politics, advising that their concern should be to enthrone a credible government that would serve Nigeria better to enable her take a prominent position among the comity of nations.

He said the CPC was already making a great impact in Anamabra State, adding that following the successful congresses held at the ward and local government levels earlier, the party had been firmly established in all the 326 wards and 21 local government areas of the state.

He urged those interested in contesting national and state assemblies’ elections on the platform of the party to purchase their forms immediately and commence the process for their campaigns, adding that people should no longer be afraid that votes would not count, since the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had assured Nigerians of a credible election.
