2011 WOMEN’S WORLD CUP: Falcons ‘ll play second fiddle in Germany

The Super Falcons of Nigeria have reassured Nigerians of qualifying for the 2011 Women’s World Cup in Germany next summer despite being logged in the same group with the German Machines that whitewashed them with eight goals during a friendly.
The World Cup in Germany will hold from June 17th to July 26th, 2011

The draws for the competition which was held in Germany Monday witnessed Nigeria being grouped alongside Germany who had earlier beaten them 8-0 in a friendly match played just after the African Women Championship(AWC) where the Super Falcons lifted the trophy.
Speaking after the draws, Uche Eucharia ,the Falcon’s Coach assured Nigerians that the team would qualify from the tight group.

“It’s going to be a different ball game in the World Cup. It is not going to be like the friendly because we are going in fully prepared this time around. This is World Cup!”, she emphasized.

Also, a former Coach of the Super Falcons, Ismaila Mabo stated that Nigeria would qualify from the group.“I Expect Germany to top the group and Nigeria will finish second place ”, he predicted.

Other countries that the Falcons would battle in Group A are Canada and France. Group B is made up of Japan ,Mexico ,New Zealand and England.

U S A , Korea  DPR ,Sweden and Colombia are in group C while the last group consists of  Brazil, Australia, Norway and the current no. 2 in Africa, Equatorial Guinea.
