30 industries learn ‘Blue Ocean Strategy’ to drive profit

By Ikeoye Oyetoro

More than 30 delegates from manufacturing industries and other sectors of the economy will converge next week in Lagos to learn about “Blue Ocean Strategy” A New Strategic Logic for High Profit Growth.

Blue Ocean Strategy is a management tool that asserts that the best way to do business is to stop trying to beat the competition and focus on creating unknown market space, that is, create companies or industries not yet in existence or expand the boundaries of existing companies and industries by creating leaps in value for buyers and your business.

Chairman, Trithel International,Chief
Joseph Akpieyi, the organiser of the conference, said: ” the special 30 delegates come from different sectors of the economy spanning manufacturing industries, oil and gas, banking, power and aviation.

“If you cast your mind back over 100 years, you will confirm that many companies and industries that exist today were unknown: Internet, Microsoft, laptops, CNN with real – time news 24 /7, gas fired electricity plants, home videos, blackberry wireless device to name but a few. If you put the clock forward by say another 50 years, history shows that many now unknown companies and industries today will surely come into existence. Many too will disappear from the scene.

The reality of business life, therefore, is that companies and industries never stand still. They continually evolve. Operations improve, markets expand, and players come and go.”

He further disclosed that the conference will be facilitated by Mr. Gavin Fraser, a Chemical Engineer and a Senior Global Expert in Blue Ocean Strategy .

According to him, participating companies will learn from the master of the game the frameworks and analytics that will enable them systematically pursue and continually create Blue Oceans to reap highly profitable growth that would assure that their businesses last and thrive in perpetuity.
