The Association for Sustainable Development of Bayelsa, ASDB, weekend, lauded Bayelsa State Governor, Timipre Sylva, for ensuring stable electricity supply in the State.
In a statement by its National Coordinator Ernest Oruama, the Association described the state as the “most stable with electricity in the country.
“Electricity has been a major problem in our country while Bayelsa had been the most hit since the state was not connected to the national grid.
Today, however, we are happy that residents of Bayelsa can attest to the stability of electricity supply,” Oruama said.
He added: “By tackling electricity problem headlong, Sylva has primed Bayelsa for unparallel industrial and economic growth.”
The group listed electricity projects completed by the Sylva administration to include the turnaround of the Imiringi power station and the procurement of brand new additional turbines.
“A major feat was also the procurement of 1,000 transformers commissioned by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to further stabilize electricity in the state. While the government has also concluded arrangement with Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) Nigeria for uninterrupted supply of gas to the state’s turbines”.
“With all these proactive steps, Bayelsa state is set to be the first to record a year of uninterrupted power supply and we commend Governor Sylva for this major achievement that will revolutionise the economy of the state.”
The group called on investors to take advantage of the stable and reliable electricity and the peaceful atmosphere engendered by the government amnesty programme to locate industries in Bayelsa state.
