Larfarge WAPCO Plc, a quoted entity on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) has disclosed that it has spent over 150 million Euro (N31,350,000,000) on Research and Development (R&D) in producing the Elephant Supaset cement.
Speaking, Mr. Samy Abdelkader, Managing Director/CEO, Larfarge WAPCO, said, “ this year alone the company has spent over 150 million Euro to various fundamental researches which gave rise to the production of Supaset cement.”
According to him, “as an organisation, this birth is significant to us. It is a signal of our leadership in the industry as we become the only cement company in Nigeria with two brands; Elephant cement for general purpose, which has contributed largely in building the nation for the past 50 years, and the current Supaset cement.
Abdelkader said that the launch of the new product is part of the company’s innovation and drive for customer satisfaction. “Elephant Supaset cement is as a result of our profound research to satisfy the yearnings of the need for specialized cement for the block makers and the precast segment of the construction industry. This is a testimony to our commitment to innovations and leadership in the Nigerian cement market” he declared.
Continuing, he said, “Supaset is a Portland cement specifically formulated as a fast setting cement. This new product combines three key value propositions of early setting, early strength and the unique later strength which is a distinguished quality which our brand, Elephant cement has been known over the years.
“We will continue to meet the needs of customers through continuous research. Our goal is to focus on innovations that will make the customers get value for their money.”
